America's Second Harvest of the Big Bend
Second Harvest of the Big Bend is the food bank that distributes millions of pounds of food every year to hungry families in the 11-county region of the Big Bend.

Collects food donations from a variety of a different organizations, which is then sorted and distributed to over 130 partner agencies. These agencies then give the food to those suffering from food insecurity. Second Harvest can not provide food to individuals, and will instead redirect people to partner agencies better able to assist them.
The primary volunteer opportunity is warehouse work, which mainly consists primarily of food sorting. Food is sorted by category based on type of food, which is then packed into boxes to be shipped various partner agencies. Anyone over the age of 14 with a clean criminal record may volunteer. Please note the warehouse is not setup well for wheelchairs.
